6/29/09: Durham Beats Columbus Again, 4-3
In front of 9000+ fans, the Columbus Clippers lost their 5th straight game in a row. This is also the third loss in a row to Durham, and they need to win tomorrow night to avoid the streak. The loss means that Columbus has won only 3 of their last 15, and that they are now last in the International League, at 34-44.
Ken Ray, the starting pitcher for Columbus, had a very good start, and only allowed two runs in. When Columbus gained the lead in the bottom of the sixth, they put in Jensen Lewis, who promptly lost the game for them. Columbus, yet again, squandered a lead.
Nobody for Columbus hit a home run, but Matt Joyce did for the Bulls. This is his 8th of the season.
This loss brings Columbus’ Ken Ray to a 2-3 record while bumping Durham’s Wade Davis to 7-4. This also is Davis’ second win over Columbus in the season.
Tomorrow night the Clippers will take on the Bulls at 7:05 on Huntington Field. This is the final game in the series, and Columbus needs it to keep from being swept. There are also three sweet promotions going on tomorrow night, so you should come check it out.
