PostHeaderIcon 7/8/09: Columbus Beats Indianapolis, 2-1

Any win is a good win.

Tonight, the Columbus Clippers tied their 3-game series at 1-1 when they beat the Indianapolis Indians, 2-1, at Huntington Field. This is only their 3rd win in 10 games, and their 5th in 15. The win brings the Clippers record up to 37-49, though they are still dead last in the International League West.

Trevor Crowe picked up a hit, bringing his streak to 14. Andy Marte hit as well, bringing him to 13 in the last 15 games. Tony Graffanino also got a hit, bringing his steak up to 6 games.

Today, 21 RHP Hector Rondon (1-0) got his first ever AAA start. He threw an amazing 6 innings without a hit, and is probably the best pitcher in the entire Indian’s orginization. He is creited with the win, obviously. There will be more on him in a future post. LHP Rich Rundles (5) and RHP Jensen Lewis (2) were credited with holds. RHP Greg Aquino got his 5th save.

For the Indians, LHP Tom Gorzelanny(3-3) had a decent start, but was given the loss.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Indians and Clippers will finish their 3-game series. The game will be at 12:05 at Huntington Park, and will feature three promotions for your to enjoy. Come check it out.
