So, there was a competition on a website I frequent about running for president. We were to pretend that we were normal candidates and that the judges were the electoral college. Basically, we answered a series of questions, and the group voted on the winner. I did not win that round, but I believe that I placed highly. We are now moving onto other rounds, but those are not relevant here. So, I decided that I would place my positions here, let me know if you would elect me, along with any other relevant things you can think of.

Thanks

Immigration

My Fellow Americas, Immigration Reform is something that should be of the highest importance in this upcoming election. It is not that immigrants are bad in principle, or even in practice, but that the entire system is obsolete and needs a complete overhaul. Too often we reward those that break our laws and enter illegally while harming those that try to come to America legally. These people are coming here because we are the greatest country on the Earth, but we need to make sure that they do it properly.

Stamping Down Illegal Immigration
All the change in the world is useless, unless we do something to stop the current situation. We need to find a way, as a country, to fight back against the swarm of immigrants that come over our borders illegally. My opponents (Omnileech’s post regarding immigration) talk about the fact that it is fine that they break our laws to get here, as they do everything else right. To me, this is absurd and something that we need to fix, as we can not allow people to break our laws.

Before we can consider reforming the system, and allowing some of the current illegals to stay here, we must stem this tide. To stop this, we must do the following:
-Increase the Security on the Mex-Am border and the Can-Am border. This border is porous and far too many illegals manage to squeeze under the fences and come into our country. Once they enter the country, they are able to pretty much avoid detection. We must send more funds and soldiers to secure this border. On a side note, this will help stimulate America’s economy by employing thousands more workers.
-Punish Companies that Higher Illegals. Too many companies are able to save money by employing those who entered our country illegally. These workers will work below minimum wage, and they will often work dangerous jobs. This is a triple edged sword, as it keeps Americans from getting jobs, potentially adds to the health-care costs, and will keep more people coming over our border. Companies should be given three strikes, which can be granted concurrently, and if they violate the laws three times we should shut them down.
-Remove all benefits for coming to America. In California, illegals can get education, food stamps, and even health care. This is the primary cause of the economic worsening in that area, and something that needs to be improved. I do not understand why you, the hardworking American people, are forced to pay for these illegals because they chose to come here and break our laws. States, and the federal government, have no Constitutional duty to protect or assist these people, and thus we should stop. Tax money should help only Americans and those here legally, not those who are in violation. States should require proper proof of citizenship for any of these benefits. Without these, many immigrants will stop crossing the border.

Dealing with the Current Immigrants
While I personally wish for all current illegals to be removed from our glorious country, I understand that this is an impossible dream. Instead, we should start a system that slowly integrates those DESERVING into our country and eventually into citizenship. Any and all current illegals who have committed additional crimes, including failure to pay income tax, shall immediately be deported. For all other immigrants, I propose that they go on the following system:
-They are given residence status
-They must maintain a full work schedule (at minimum wage or higher) for at least 5 years
-They must maintain a proper household, comply with residency laws, and not violate any law
-All income taxes must be paid, and no more than 15% of their earnings can be sent back home
-They are not allowed to participate in the immigration of any more illegals.
-After 7 years of this program, assuming they comply with all standards and have broken no more laws, they will be granted the permission to take a citizenship test. If they pass said test, they will be allowed to become full citizens of America.

Immigration Reform
While it is easy to scapegoat immigrants, know that it was immigrants who built America, and immigrants that made our country so great. With this in mind, I believe that we should welcome all LEGAL immigrants with open arms, and that we should allow more to come here. These people come because of the American Dream, and they are willing to work hard, work well, and work legally to get it. To help them out, I believe that the following changes should be made:
-We should allow any number of people to immigrate to America each year.
-Al immigrants will be required to keep a job for at least 4 years, and send at most 25% of their pay back to their home country
-Assistance shall be given, provided that they pay all taxes properly
-If these immigrants break any law that results in a felony conviction, then they should be removed immediately.
-After 5 years, these immigrants should be allowed to take a test to become citizens OR they can wait 6 years and become citizens upon request.

Along with this, we need to ensure that America brings in well qualified immigrants and students. Thus, for certain specific classifications we should have a different system. If you are a college student and/or a person in either engineering, the sciences, or medicine then you will have the following system:
-Once you complete your education, and/or work for the government (or an affiliate or otherwise specified firm) for 4 years then you are granted automatic citizenship.
-If you choose not to work for the government (or affiliated system), then you will be granted automatic citizenship after 5 years.

Always remember, it was immigrants that built and made America great, but immigrants that followed the law. We are all decedents of immigrants, and so we should treat them fairly, provided they don’t take advantage of us. Robert Barga is the only candidate that wishes to reform immigration and make it work, allowing us to utilize the best of the world.
A vote for Barga is a vote for America.

Taxes and the Economy

Nobody likes high taxes, and nobody likes to pay them. I understand this, and so it is my goal, if elected, to do my best not to increase taxes. I believe that we can balance the federal budget, perhaps even start making money, if we do a few simple things. I believe that change is possible, but it is only possible if all parties stop fighting each other and instead work together. I I plan to change the tax system, instead of breaking it.

I believe that we can balance the budget by altering how we tax companies, not how we tax citizens:
-I believe that companies get too many tax breaks via loopholes. I would alter the tax code to be a simply one, where there are only a few exceptions for businesses, and one where the lobbyists have no jurisdiction,
-No companies will be given benefits for shipping jobs overseas. Any company that imports products will have to pay a 15% tariff fee on the FINAL PRICE. This protects America jobs, the American Worker, and will ensure that the company will not gouge you.
-Any company that is given an incentive will be required to commit for a certain number of years. Say we give Ford a 4 year break on taxes, for building a plant in Flint; they would be forced to be in Flint for 8 years, 4 tax free, and 4 with taxes. Companies play leap frog too often, and this is why communities die.

Small businesses are essential for America, so I believe that we should make them easier:
-all companies which employ 25 or fewer workers will be given tax breaks based on their growth per quarter. The faster you grow, the better you tax breaks are.
-Any company of less then 100 workers will also be given tax breaks, based upon a yearly growth ratio.

Citizens are too often facing the brunt of America’s taxes. To fix this, I plan to:
-Eliminate the death and estate taxes. The taxes are a double dipping effort and one that is unfair
-Lower the taxes on the middle class. These people pay far too much in taxes, and they need some help
-Freeze INCOME tax increases across the board, keeping all people where they are now.
-Institute a logical tax bracket, where each raise of 25,000$ correlates to an increase of .5% in taxes (at most $125 a year).
-Allow people to pay their income tax by month
-Any person who lost a job due to downsizing or outsourcing will be given a month of no income tax, to help them back onto their feet

I believe that the tax system needs to be reformed and fixed, so that America’s Economy can get back on its feet. It is time to stop helping businesses that harm America, and instead help the American People, the American Worker, and the Small Business so that they can accomplish the American Dream. A vote for Barga is a vote for Better Taxes.

Special Interests

All Presidents have special interests, and they all have pet projects. Obama has health care, JFK had the moon, and Teddy had the national Parks. I am, for my part, actually have four special projects that I consider vital for America and that, in my opinion, you better the country:

Education reform
In America, our schools are failing our students. Kids can not learn, many are crammed into tiny classrooms, and some are even taught in trailers. Gym roofs leak, there are no AP classes offered, and some school don’t even have sports teams. This is sad, and this is also a giant scar on the face of our country. We need to help these schools out, so that they can help kids out.

Students are the future of our country. Unless we foster these people and help them grow, they will not get anywhere. We need to protect our future and ensure that it is a good future. Thus, we should help to fund these schools in any way possible.

I believe that we should institute the following changes:
-School districts are failing, so students should have the right to go to alternative schools (non religious) with district funding
-Teacher Unions are becoming to powerful. While they are useful, they should not become the end-all of the decision making process
-End tenure simply due to years, instead, make it based on student improvement
-Repeal No Child Left Behind, this legislation has not shown any marked improvements

I believe that a change in the way we run school in America will help our economy and ensure that we have future leaders who are strong and smart. Remember, a vote for Barga is a vote for America’s schools.

Moving the Supreme Court Back to Where it Belongs
The Supreme Court is to activist, and they keep legislating from the bench. Roe V. Wade, Brown V. Board, Scott V. Stanford, all are examples of the supremes acting above where they are Constitutionally allowed. The Supreme Court has limited jurisdiction, and their job is defined in the Constitution. Nowhere in this document do they have the right to review and overturn rulings, and so we should remove them from this.

I believe that the role of deciding what is Constitutional and not is actually left up to the people. The 9th Amendment grants them rights not in the Constitution, and nobody is granted this right. Thus, it should be up to the people of America to decide on these issues. We should be given the vote, and thus we should fully follow proper democratic procedures.

To bring about this change, I will attempt to do the following:
-Appoint justices who agree with this concept
-Appoint moderate judges, those who have a record of restraint and proper interpretations
-Appoint judges that have shown that they know and listen to the people
-Stop this Cult of Robes and allow normal lawyers into the court, people who are not trained at the elite schools

For 200 years our country has been run by an oligarchy in black robes. These people do not listen to the peoples voice and they are against the American Ideal. Always remember, with my proposed changes, A vote for Barga is a vote for Democracy.

Removing Special Interest Groups from Politics
Speed limits exist because of Ralph Nader. The Drinking age is 21 because of MADD. Seniors get tax breaks because of AARP. Unions get huge contracts because of their lobbyists. In all of these cases, the will of the American People is being subverted because of special interests. I believe that this is undemocratic, against the American Way, and a horrific practice.

We need to end special interests in Washington, and become the people house again. To do this, I plan to do the following:
-Lobbyists are not allowed to communicate with legislators, their aides, or their families 5 weeks before, and during, a bill which effects them
-All bills must be written by a legislator, no part can be from an aide or a lobbyist
-Legislators are not allowed to get gifts, money, or any benefit from a private party that is not directly related or a close friend
-All pork in bills is to be removed (I will utilize my line-item veto here).

I believe that too many laws, tax breaks, and benefits are created for a small portion of America simply because they had the money to put it into politics. This is wrong, and needs to be stopped. Too many groups subvert the American Will. Remember, a vote for Barga is a vote for the American People.

An End to Partisan Politics
My Fellow Americans, I am running to be President of America, not President of Democrats or Republicans. With this in mind, I can not stand how partisan the political system has become. People start to vote for a party simply because of what they are, not who they are. This is a problem, and one that can royally screw America over.

This is even worse in Congress, when you see stalemates because the two sides can not agree. The Republicans believe that taxes are bad, and the Democrats are for them, and so both sides freeze and attack each other. Instead of coming to an agreement, they will fight and argue amongst themselves. This delays, or even causes ignoring, of important and useful bills. This needs to end.

To get Congress to act like adults, I propose the following changes:
-Have people sit based on age, this will keep the room from being split by party
-Eliminate the party Whips, the party should not decide how a person votes
-Remove the party funds, this forces them to pay attention to actual issues and not just what the party wants
-Remove the D/R label on all elections, this cause Americans to vote for a person, and not a party.

Too often are important and needed things ignored because of petty party arguments. America is a diverse country, and should be represented as though she were. Remember, a vote for Barga is a vote President of America, not for a specific party.

The Military

From the very first days of America, to the current battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, America has always relied on her soldiers, marines, navy, and, more recently, airmen, to protect her. These men and women risk their lives to go serve and keep us all safe. They will make the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms and rights that we so cherish.

Not only do these brave men and women make sacrifices for us, but their entire families do as well. Wifes lose their husbands, for days, months, or even eternity. Children lose fathers, mothers, and siblings. Families also make the biggest sacrifice, and, for this, we thank them.

We ask our soldiers to make thousands of sacrifices, so I believe that it is time to pay them back. With this in mind, I propose the following:
-All soldiers are given free college education at a public university, as will their spouses
-Any immigrant who serves in the military for at least 1 year (active duty) will become a citizen automatically
- A pay raise across the board, all soldiers need more money
-Tax cuts for all active soldiers
- Full health care, benefits, and post-traumatic care for all soldiers

We ask these men and women to give their lives for us, so it is the least we can do to help them out. I propose that we give them the tools they need to be safe, to prosper, and to come home alive. Remember, a vote for Barga is a vote for our men and women in uniform.

Amendment Rights

To discuss the Amendments we must first come with some common terms. Too often do people dismiss the idea of a living Constitution as what allowed abortions. With the same breath, the other time of the spectrum argues that a static (that is, not living) Constitution is why we are allowed to police in absurd manners. Let me set this straight, WE ALL WANT A LIVING CONSTITUTION

If you can find me a person who thinks that the 2nd applies only to muskets, pistols, and cannons, then I would be surprised. How about finding a person who believes that the 1st only applies to pamphlets, newspapers, and soap box speakers. Unless you can find people who believe that the Constitution is limited to its time, then we all agree that living is good. So, the Constitution is living, and we can thus apply it to the modern era.

Now, I believe that we should look at the Constitution as the supreme law of the land, but not only look at the words themselves, but the intent behind them. I do not believe that the Founders intended abortion to be covered by the 4th, that the reconstructionists intended immigrant babies to be covered under the 14th, or anything of that nature. However, I do believe that they intended to leave certain areas vague (mainly the 9th and 10th Amendments) so that they can be adapted to modern times.

To fully follow what the Founders intended, I believe that we need to alloy the Constitution into our every day lives. We should make sure that the government does not violate a single entitlement from our Constitution, no matter what their reasoning. We need to ensure that our rights, every single one of them, are protected against tyranny.

I pledge to ensure that the Constitution is properly followed, to end invasive and unconstitutional policies, and to properly adapt the Constitution for the modern day. I believe that all rights, from the 1st, to the 2nd, to the 14th, etc. need to be protected. AND, I pledge to do so to the best of my ability. I will also return the rights of the people, by actually following the 9th Amendment. Remember, a vote for Barga is a vote for YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.
