A few years ago, when I was managing a Quznos, I happened to be listening to the Glenn Beck Show. See, I would listen to the show while I was opening the store up for buisness, as it was amusing, and it sometimes had informational qualities. This days show didn’t have anything informational, but it was amusing – not because of what Beck said, but because of what I did.

Beck had been talking about a Muslim who refused to sell pork. A few weeks earlier, he had defended a Christian who refused to sell birth control. I, spotting the obvious hypocrasy, decided to call in, lie about what my topic was (I think I said “Muslim’s will ruin America” – it got me on the air), and be live on the radio. I then told him that he was a hypocrite, attacked him, and all of that fun stuff. Beck imediatly cut to commercials, and simply said ‘well played’ to me.

Recently, Mr. Beck has come under fire for a whole slew of things. Everything from his hypocrasy (as evidenced above) to his hatred of President Obama. Most recently, Beck has started directing the opposition to the Town Hall meetings about Health Care. Beck, who calls it Obamacare, seems to think that President Obama will initiate this health care reform only to kill the old people. Or, maybe it is to take control of the world. Wait, is it just to bring about Communisim? Though Beck seems to think that Obama is planning 100s of things with this health care, he simply can not pick what one thing it is.

This, of course, is simply part of what Mr. Beck has been saying about Obama lately. Glen seems to think that our President is a facist/communist/socialist/racist and that he is out to destroy our country. He also believes that Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen, even though the evidence against that is quite clear. Basically, Beck is butt hurt, and he is taking it out on our leader.

However, the people have taken notice of this, and they are fighting back. While Beck still has some sheep following him, most of the country has started to realize how far off base he is. Seeing this trend, advertisers are starting to pull away from Beck, and several have abandoned him already. This is great, as it will eventually shut him up, which is greatly needed.

But, maybe he doesn’t need to shut up, maybe he should just stop lying. Truthfully, I do not believe that Beck actually believes what he says. THere is far too much hypocrasy, far too much hatred, and far too little common sense for this to be the case. I think that Beck sits there just to get the attention, and that this is only helping his cause. Maybe it is the money, maybe it is the ego, but, for some reason, Glen Beck just wants to be heard. I truly think that the only reason he says this sort of stuff is to get a reaction, and to get listeners. Of course, he might actually be BAT SHIT INSANE, but I am hoping that it is just an act.
