This article is ignorant, and just a lame excuse for continuing the use of a word that is meant to describe a mental/developmental condition. "Slow", huh? Don't waste your time telling the world you don't mean it as an insult or associate it with negative feeling... you used it offensively within your first few sentences. I didn't think there were still people out there who'd try to justify their stupid and ignorant habits.

I definitely have an issue with them being kick-ass and well armed when the scope of their powers is ever-growing. How many times have they conducted middle of the night "no knock" raids on the WRONG HOUSE? What would you do if a bunch of masked men busted through your window in the middle of the night? I hope your answer isn't anything remotely like defending yourself, because you'd be the one rotting behind bars for it rather than these fascist thugs.

Boy the War On Drugs has been such a resounding success. Let's see what all we have to show for it: dramatic expansion in the State's search and seizure powers, backwater police departments playing army and occasionally killing a few people when they raid the wrong house (we'll chalk them up as collateral damage), rising tax burden to pay for all this nonsense, criminality created by the very illegality of the drug trade prompting yet more police powers and aggressiveness (a positive feedback loop, how very convenient), and the icing on the cake - ZERO impact on the availability or use of banned substances. Marijuana, cocaine, heroin, you name it, they're all just as available as they were 20, 30, 40 years ago.

Well considering Kay is trailing in the polls to Governor Perry, it is giving her a clear sign that Texas wants her to stay in the senate. There is no doubt that if she did resign a Republican would be elected to replace her. This is still one of the most Republican and conservative states...and becoming more red each day under the current president and congress....and that is fine with me. God bless Texas.

I don't consider myself a defender of the fair tax.

However several of the things you mention are already problems under the current tax system:

Another simple thing that the proponents of the fair tax fail to point out is how inflation will effect the tax.

That's a problem that affects all taxes. A 20% inflation rate (which is really bad for the US, and not been encountered for some time) would be disastrous for savers no matter what the tax regime. Your example does imply, however, that the person would try to save the entire amount for the house and buy with cash, which almost never happens.

Congress will be able to use the sales tax as a club against any group, company, or item that they do not agree with.

That's already the case with the current tax code.

Sites like Ebay.com, Amazon and the like will need to be shut down

The federal government currently has a law on the books that allows merchants to ignore sales taxes when the merchant has no locus in the state.

I'm sure that would be repealed under the Fair Tax. Actually, if anything, the ebay blackmarket would become less severe with a national sales tax, because, as long as the product is new, tax would be due and there would be a national agency making sure it's paid.

So, by giving everybody the same amount regardless of area means you are not providing equal protection/provision under the law

This is already a problem under the current income tax system. And frankly, it's one that I always thought was a little odd. Other countries have income tax regimes that have a cost of living factor included. But not in the US, where a New Yorker and an Ohioan could make the same amount of income and pay the same amount of tax, even though the New Yorker has a rent payment five times higher than the Ohioan.

Of course, both the income tax and/or the Fair Tax can get a cost of living factor.

The newly introduced iPad of Apple is amazing, exceptional and fabulous computing machine. It is super high quality, super responsive and super processor. This technology is most advanced version ever developed.

Apple iPad has brilliant surfing speed as you can quickly flick through multiple pages tapping each on a block. And unlike the iPhone you now have complete webpages without much effort.

I would still call moderate Democratic bloggers "the Left" but I doubt they supported the "Betray-us" ad. Give the reasonable Left some credit. Don't you consider yourself part of the Left-of-Center?
